Featuring its own pier, beach and an intriguing history, this is genuinely the ultimate Mediterranean luxury retreat. Positioned on a peaceful clifftop, overlooking the impossibly clear Adriatic at the south east end of the Dalmatian coast, Villa Sheherezade faces the picture perfect paradise island of Lokrum, and Dubrovnik’s famous fortress walls, which are within easy walking distance. With sun-kissed photographic views literally everywhere; the villa is surrounded by 4,000sq m of original white-stone terraces – two of them on the roof. Very popular with our guests, a third terrace has been transformed into a large, secluded outdoor pool with a platform whirlpool adjacent to it.
The story goes that Villa Sheherezade was built by a Lithuanian entrepreneur fleeing Russia’s October Revolution in the 1920’s for his mistress, who he called Sheherezade. No expense was spared as he filled the love nest with bespoke furniture and rare objects from all over the world. Whether this is accurate or not, the history of this palace by the sea is inextricably bound with romance – Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton once stayed here while shooting a movie in Dubrovnik. Should you have any special requests during your stay, a dedicated concierge team will be at your service 24-hours a day.
