Island of Mljet

Mljet is a magical island where Mother Nature remains utterly unspoilt. Its lush Aleppo pine and holm oak forest coupled with two emerald-green lakes have earned it the title “the green island”. It is, unquestionably, a paradise. Time magazine once named Mljet as one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world, and legendary underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau loved it here. According to legend, Greek hero Ulysses stayed here for seven years after being shipwrecked. Surrounded by picturesque fauna-filled fields, the egg-shaped Ulysses’ Cave is a must-see.

Surrounded by the peaceful, clear waters of the Adriatic, Mljet is Croatia’s greenest and most seductive island, with much to explore. Hiking and cycling paths weave their way across the entire island, through rich forests, along the lake shores and over the heavenly hills of Mljet National Park to the cliffs and rocky shores opening on to the azure Adriatic.
