SupetART 2025 – a year in review

Proudly continuing SupetART, the art-in-residence program at Hotel Supetar Cavtat, our boutique hotel’s communal spaces once again transformed into immersive pop-up galleries showcasing local art over generations. In collaboration with SHPIGL, a distinguished Croatian art consultancy, we welcomed four talented artists from Dubrovnik who each brought their unique artistic vision, allowing guests to engage with the art and culture of the region in dynamic, memorable ways.

FEATURED ARTISTS…

Klara Knego

In her work, Klara explores the architectural structures of Dubrovnik, combining painterly and drawing approaches, with a dominant use of blue tones that bring a meditative and contemplative atmosphere to her compositions. The city is not merely a subject – it is a stimulus, a structure, a challenge, and a point of origin.
“I do not paint Dubrovnik to describe it, but to test the limits of my own perception of what is already known – through blue and through line.”- Klara Knego

Mihaela Rašica

In her artistic practice, Mihaela mainly deals with the problems of light and color in painting, framing expressively painted figures in abstracted coloristic compositions. She paints on the legacy of French post-impressionism and American figurative expressionism, with strong influences from the Dubrovnik coloristic painting tradition, most notably Ivo Dulčić. In her Sundial opus, the paintings were made in dialogue with the dusktime hours, where the boundary between seeing and feeling dissolves, and where a city, a season, and a moment all glow with the quiet intensity of light in its final hour.

Andrea Vukoja Prce

In this new body of work, Andreja delves into the visual and symbolic interplay between Dubrovnik, its surrounding islands, and the unifying presence of the sea. The series of large-format paintings—crafted through a synthesis of alcohol inks, epoxy resin, textured surfaces, acrylics, and gilding—evokes the Elaphiti Islands, sweeping vistas of the City, and the distinctive perspective of Stradun.
Blue is my language. The sea, infinity, and protection—the energy that binds the City, its islands, and its people. In my work, it is a fundamental force. Through layers of ink, resin, and gold, I shape scenes where tradition meets the contemporary, and Dubrovnik becomes a universal metaphor of freedom and endurance. – says Andreja

Zvonimir Roko

By employing chiaroscuro – the contrast of light and shadow, Zvonimir emphasizes a contemplative atmosphere that guides the viewer’s attention to what lies beyond the visible. Starting from ordinary, often overlooked moments, he transforms them through painting into universal images of connection, memory, and relationships.
I portray the people and moments that matter to me, ordinary scenes that reveal the invisible layers of emotion, memory, and connection. My aim is for these paintings to evoke in others their own relationships, memories, and fragments of everyday life that only gain meaning once we truly learn to see. – says Zvonimir.

Until next year…

SupetART fosters a rich exchange between creators and visitors, turning the hotel into a space where conversation and culture naturally converge. By providing an intimate setting for guests to experience fresh perspectives from local talent, we deepen their connection to the Croatian cultural landscape. We extend our gratitude to the artists, partners, and guests who have shaped this experience. As a continuing initiative, SupetART ensures that Hotel Supetar Cavtat remains a dedicated guardian of local artistic expression and a living tribute to our shared heritage.
